About Us
Aspendale North Kindergarten
Aspendale North Kindergarten (ANK) Inc. was officially opened on 31st October 1970. ANK is affiliated with the Department of Education and Training (DET), City of Kingston and is a member of Early Learning Association Australia (ELAA).
The Kindergarten is managed by a Committee of Management made up of volunteer parent/guardians. It is the responsibility of the Committee to manage and maintain the kindergarten, including staff, grounds, building and equipment. All parents/guardians are encouraged to nominate.
The committee and staff are supported by a dedicated Administration Officer, who maintains efficient day to day running of the kinder, as well as ensuring all government requirements are adhered to, and the highest quality standards are met.
Aspendale North Kindergarten (ANK) has had a long history of catering to the needs of children in Aspendale and the surrounding area. The Kindergarten’s program is structured around the children’s developmental and emotional needs, recognising the diversity of children of different cultures and special needs children. We have long worked in partnership with Yarrabah Early Intervention Education and Yooralla, as well as the local primary schools the children will be attending.
ANK seeks to fulfil your child’s optimum education and social potential, to foster a love of learning and act as an agent in maturing children for the experiences that school and life will bring.
Aspendale North Kindergarten aims to provide children with programs that cater for individual needs and levels of development as well as offering a safe, stable, caring and stimulating environment.
We provide an educational program that promotes growth and development of the ‘whole’ child; that is physical, social, emotional, linguistic and cognitive areas.
We offer children a variety of experiences that incorporate curriculum areas such as movement, music, mathematics, art, drama, science and social studies. These allow children to develop fine and gross motor skills through practice and play.
The Kindergarten utilises community facilities such as fire stations, shops and traffic schools for excursions.
Incursions also occur with visitors from groups who engage the children with music, dance and sometimes animals! These ensure the students are provided with a variety of experiences.
The staff aim to provide an environment which encourages the values of security, friendship, trust, understanding, responsibility, co-operation, safety, independence and care for the environment and nature.
Our program aims to:
- Understand the skills that your child needs to learn;
- Introduce materials and activities that lead to learning;
- Take an interest in your child’s learning discoveries;
- Relate learning to your child’s overall framework of knowledge
